Plage de Vaucottes

Plage de Vaucottes is a pebble beach nestled between high chalk cliffs of the Alabaster Coast, with the distinctive Roche aux Anglais rock formation visible on its left side. The shore consists of small stones and rock formations that shift with the changing tides.

The beach occupies a stretch of coastline that has long supported maritime activities and drew fishing communities to the area. Settlements in the surrounding valleys developed as people settled here to work the waters.

The shore carries the legacy of maritime traditions passed down through local families over many generations. Visitors can observe how people use the tidal zones to maintain their connection with the sea.

Swimming is not safe here due to strong currents that make the water dangerous. The beach can be reached via the D211 road, with parking available a short walk from the water.

When the tide goes out, large rock formations with natural pools emerge from the water, creating spaces where marine life gathers. This shifting landscape reveals different features each time you visit.
