Man O' War Cove
Man O' War Cove is a small sandy beach on the Dorset coast, situated between steep cliffs along England's southern shoreline. The cove is bounded by a distinctive headland of upright layered rock and sits close to the famous Durdle Door natural arch.
The cove takes its name from a line of rocks called Man O' War Rocks that stretch across the bay. The cliffs and rock formations were shaped by erosion and geological processes over millions of years and are now part of the Jurassic Coast World Heritage site.
The path down to the beach involves a steep descent and steps, which can become slippery after rain, so sturdy footwear is advisable. Facilities are limited at the site, so you should plan ahead for toilets and refreshments at the nearby Durdle Door Holiday Park or Lulworth Cove.
The water around the rocks is not suitable for swimming due to shallow shelves and rip currents, yet the rock formations attract adventurers who jump into the sea from the heights. The beach allows dogs year-round, making it a popular spot for dog owners seeking a safe place for their animals.
