Pittulongu

Pittulongu is a wide sandy beach on the northeastern coast of Sardinia with light-colored sand that slopes gently into calm waters. Mediterranean plants and pine trees grow behind the shoreline, creating natural shelter along the coast.

The beach developed from a small fishing settlement into a tourist destination starting in the mid-1900s as tourism grew across Sardinia. Before this change, fishing was the main activity that sustained communities living along this coast.

The fishing heritage remains visible in the small restaurants and beach bars that dot the shore, where locals gather to enjoy fresh seafood prepared in traditional ways. This connection to the sea shapes how people spend their time here today.

The water is usually calm and shallow, making it ideal for beginners and families, with the best conditions during warmer months. Umbrellas and loungers are available for rent, and the beach is accessible by bus from nearby Olbia.

From this shore you can see Tavolara Island rising sharply from the sea like a mountain, visible from everywhere along the beach. This natural formation serves as a distinctive landmark for the entire area.
