Spiaggia di Cala Turchino

Cala Turchino is a public beach in San Vito Chietino with light pebbles along the shore and clear water that gradually deepens. Rocky cliffs frame the cove and create shifting colors in the sea.

The cove gained literary recognition through Gabriele D'Annunzio's novel from 1894, which referenced the local fishing platform here. This early connection to known literature shaped the place's identity.

The beach sits along the Trabocchi Coast, where traditional wooden fishing platforms jut into the water and shape daily local life. These working structures have been part of the community for centuries and show how people here maintain their connection to the sea.

The beach has no developed facilities, so bring everything you need for a day there. The natural setting remains undeveloped, which also means limited shade or shelter.

The rocky cliffs at the cove create optical effects through light reflection that make the water appear in different colors. This effect is especially noticeable when light changes throughout the day.
