Praia Fluvial do Gameiro

Praia Fluvial do Gameiro sits along the Raia River with sandy shores and clear waters surrounded by cork oak and pine trees. The site offers natural shade areas, straw umbrellas, a snack bar, a children's playground, picnic spots with grills, and a beach soccer field.

The beach formed after construction of the Gameiro Dam on the Raia River, creating a natural swimming area. This development led to the establishment of the ecological park to protect the river landscape and its biodiversity.

The beach is part of the Gameiro Ecological Park, where visitors encounter information about regional wildlife through educational panels placed around the site. Local people use this space to spend time outdoors and observe native plant species along the water.

The site is easy to access and well-marked, with ample parking near the beach. Swimming conditions are best during warmer months, and the location works well for families with young children thanks to the play areas available.

A wooden boardwalk about 1.5 kilometers long starts at the beach and leads through riverside landscapes. Along this path, visitors can spot migratory birds and uncommon plant species that are otherwise hard to see.
