Praia Fluvial de Azenhas d'El Rei

Praia Fluvial de Azenhas d'El Rei is a river beach along the Alqueva Reservoir with clear water and sandy areas for swimming and water sports. The site stretches for about 150 meters and has designated swimming zones alongside spaces for relaxation and active recreation.

The beach opened in June 2022 and earned Blue Flag certification shortly after, a mark of water quality and environmental standards. This recognition marked the start of a new chapter in recreational development for the area.

The beach sits in a border region where Portuguese and Spanish visitors meet and spend time together by the water. The location creates space for connections between people from both countries.

The beach has basic facilities including a restaurant, bathrooms, showers, and parking for cars, buses, and campervans. It is best visited during warmer months when all amenities are available and the water is comfortable for swimming.

The location is part of Europe's largest artificial reservoir system, stretching for hundreds of kilometers. This massive water infrastructure serves the region while creating space for recreation and water sports at multiple sites.
