Alum Creek Beach

Alum Creek Beach is a sand beach along a lake with soft shores surrounded by green forests and rolling hills. The water and surrounding landscape create a relaxing spot for swimming and spending time outdoors.

The beach developed as part of a dam project built in the 1970s to control flooding in the region. This infrastructure later created a public recreation area for the community.

The area around the beach has ties to African American history, as shown by nearby Africa Road, which is named after freed people who settled in this region.

The beach has changing rooms, outdoor showers, and playgrounds where visitors can swim, relax, or spend time with family. The facilities are set up so that people of any age can be active here or take breaks.

The beach features a storybook trail where visitors can learn while walking, and open little libraries offer reading material for everyone. This mix of play space and learning makes the place stand out.
