Noblesa del temps, Bronze sculpture at Plaza de la Rotonda, Andorra
Noblesa del temps is a seven-meter bronze sculpture featuring a melting clock draped over a tree trunk, accompanied by two human figures. The work on Plaza de la Rotonda combines organic shapes with surrealist imagery.
The work came into being between 1977 and 1982 as one of Dalí's later creations, then passed through private hands. In August 2010, it found its permanent home at its current downtown location.
The melting clock imagery reflects Dalí's exploration of how time flows and changes constantly. The two figures beside the tree show contrasting reactions to the passing of moments.
The sculpture sits in the middle of the busy plaza with access points from multiple directions, making it easy to reach on foot. Around the site are plenty of shops, restaurants, and accommodations that support spending more time in the area.
The contemplative angel and the shawled woman gaze in contrasting directions, showing the artistic intent to present different temporal perspectives. This contrast between the two gazes creates inner tension that invites viewers to linger longer with the work.
