Europa Centralna, Shopping centre in Ligota Zabrska, Gliwice, Poland
Europa Centralna, also known as Helical Retail Park Sośnica, is a large retail and services complex in the Ligota Zabrska district of Gliwice, clearly visible from Pszczyńska street. The complex spans two levels and brings together clothing stores, electronics retailers, home improvement shops, a supermarket, food outlets, and entertainment venues.
Construction began in mid-2011 and the complex opened at the start of 2013. Since then, it has gone through ongoing expansion and renovation work that is still continuing today.
The center draws shoppers from across the region, not just from Gliwice itself, thanks to its location near major roads. Many visitors combine their shopping trip with a stop at one of the on-site entertainment spots, like the Kolejkowo model railway layout of Upper Silesia or the FUNZEUM color museum.
The complex sits near major highways on the southern edge of Gliwice and is easy to reach by car or by bus lines 678 and 232. On-site parking is free and can hold well over 2,000 cars, with spaces located right next to the stores, and the building is accessible for people with reduced mobility.
Europa Centralna holds a BREEAM environmental certificate, meaning the building has been assessed against recognized sustainability standards. This is unusual for a retail park of this type in the region.
