Centro Comercial Plaza Central, Shopping mall in Puente Aranda, Bogotá, Colombia
Centro Comercial Plaza Central is a large shopping center in the Puente Aranda district of Bogotá, Colombia, housing stores, restaurants, movie theaters, and entertainment spaces across multiple floors. The building has wide internal walkways and a bright facade that is especially noticeable at night due to a large LED display covering a significant portion of its exterior.
The mall opened in late 2016 and quickly became one of the largest shopping centers in Bogotá developed by a single company. Its arrival changed daily life in Puente Aranda, a district known more for its industrial character than for retail or leisure.
The name "Plaza Central" reflects its role as a gathering point in Puente Aranda, a working district of Bogotá where people mix errands with leisure. Inside, an area called Delizia works like an open-air restaurant street with tables set outside the storefronts, drawing people who want to eat casually without being in a traditional food court.
The center is open every day from morning to night and can be reached by car via three main roads: Avenida de las Américas, Calle 13, and Avenida 68. Visitors arriving by public bus can get off at the stop on Calle 13, near the main entrance.
The building features one of the largest LED facades in Colombia, capable of displaying millions of colors and making it visible from far away after dark. It also collects rainwater and reuses it for various needs within the building, which is rarely seen in a commercial complex of this size.
