Hôtel Bouctot-Vagniez, Art Nouveau mansion in Amiens, France

The Hôtel Bouctot-Vagniez is a three-story private residence in Amiens that combines Gothic details with Art Nouveau design. The building is set within an English-style garden that forms an important part of the overall property on Rue des Otages.

Architect Louis Duthoit built this residence between 1909 and 1911 for newlyweds André Bouctot and Marie-Louise Vagniez, funded by her marriage dowry. The project emerged during the height of Art Nouveau style in France.

The residence displays decorative ironwork created by the Parisian firm Schwartz and Meurer, along with glass fixtures specially made by the Daum company. These handcrafted elements shaped the interior and show how the owners worked with leading artisans of the era.

The property sits in a residential area on Rue des Otages and connects easily to other attractions around Amiens. The surrounding neighborhood reflects early 20th-century residential character and offers pleasant walking through the city.

The residence was designed as a spacious home for a young couple without children, with each floor spanning about 300 square meters. This generous layout reflects the family's wealth and the lifestyle of the upper-middle class during that era.
