Budinpolek, Dwarf statue in Muchobór Mały, Poland.
Budinpolek is a dwarf statue standing outside the Budinpol company building at Traktatowa 1 in the Muchobór Mały neighborhood. The stone figure was created by artist Beata Zwolańska-Hołod and forms part of Wrocław's collection of over 300 similar bronze and stone sculptures throughout the city.
The statue was installed on April 25, 2012, continuing a movement that began in the 1980s with the Orange Alternative. This anti-communist movement later inspired the creation of hundreds of dwarf figures placed throughout the city at various locations.
The figure represents the spirit of small-scale craftsmanship and local enterprise. It fits Wrocław's tradition of placing such statues near businesses that somehow reflect their names or activities.
The statue is located in a commercial area and is easily accessible by public transportation. Since it sits in the outskirts of the city, plan extra time for travel if visiting from the center.
The figure bears the name Budinpolek, derived directly from the nearby company name Budinpol. This connection between sculpture and business location is typical of many Wrocław dwarfs, which often carry names linked to their surroundings.
