Marysia Pięknisia

Marysia Pięknisia is a bronze statue of a young woman holding a mirror while examining her own reflection. The figure stands in the Old Town and captures a moment of personal grooming.

The statue was installed in 2011 and joins hundreds of dwarfs that emerged from the Orange Alternative movement. This movement used art as a form of resistance against communist control during the 1980s.

This figure is part of a Wrocław tradition of placing small bronze sculptures throughout the city to create an outdoor art collection that shows everyday life.

The statue is located on Widok Street in the Old Town near restaurants and shops, making it easy to visit while walking around. The area has good pedestrian access and is centrally positioned, so you can stop by during a casual stroll.

The statue portrays one of the few female characters in Wrocław's dwarf collection and carries a personal story about a secret romantic interest. This narrative gives the artwork a human dimension that goes beyond mere artistic representation.
