Polidenciak, Dwarf statue at Plac Grunwaldzki, Poland.
Polidenciak is a bronze dwarf sculpture standing near the entrance to Plac Grunwaldzki square in Wrocław, measuring roughly 30 centimeters (12 inches) tall. The figure sits at street level where passersby can easily encounter it during their travels through the area.
The statue was installed in November 2010, continuing a tradition that originated during the 1980s Orange Alternative movement, a form of peaceful protest against communist rule. This movement used humor and small artistic gestures to challenge authority without direct confrontation.
This statue belongs to a collection of over 400 dwarves spread across Wrocław, each representing different aspects of city life and local character. Together they form a playful way residents express their connection to the city.
The sculpture is positioned at Plac Grunwaldzki square and can be reached easily by tram or bus, as multiple lines serve this location. Simply head to the square itself and look at street level near the main entrance area to spot the small bronze figure.
During winter months, visitors regularly place miniature scarves and hats on the figure, transforming it into a seasonal spectacle. This habit turns the small bronze sculpture into something that changes appearance throughout the year as people add their own touches.
