Musée du Train et des Équipages militaires

The Musée du Train et des Équipages militaires is located within the Military Schools complex and displays a collection of locomotives, vehicles, and equipment used for military transport. The exhibits are arranged in bright spaces and show different types of transportation vehicles along with related gear and accessories.

The collection was originally founded in Tours in 1978 to document the history of military transportation. It was later transferred to Bourges, where it became part of the Logistics and Transportation Schools.

The collection displays personal items and uniforms that show how soldiers lived and traveled through different periods. You can see how their equipment and clothing changed as time passed.

The museum can be visited from Wednesday to Sunday and displays a manageable collection that takes about one to two hours to explore. Advance booking is recommended, especially during summer months, to ensure access and space availability.

The collection spans more than two centuries of military transport development, showing how technology evolved from rail systems to modern vehicles. A visit reveals this technical progression from a distinctive military perspective often overlooked in general transport museums.
