Terminal T1
Terminal T1 is the main international terminal at El Dorado Airport in Bogota, the capital of Colombia. The building spans several levels and houses check-in counters, security checkpoints, departure and arrival halls, along with shops and food options throughout.
El Dorado Airport opened in the 1950s and over time grew into one of the busiest airports in South America. Terminal T1 was built as part of a major renovation effort that aimed to bring the airport in line with modern international standards.
For many travelers, this terminal is their first contact with Colombia, as it is the main entry point for international flights into the country. Signs in Spanish and English reflect the mix of local and foreign passengers passing through every day.
For international flights, arriving at least three hours before departure is a good idea, as check-in and security lines can be long. Signs and information desks throughout the building make it fairly easy to find your gate or get help if needed.
El Dorado Airport sits at over 8,200 feet (2,500 m) above sea level, making it one of the highest international airports in the world. Because of the thin air at this altitude, aircraft need more runway distance and engine power to take off, which is something pilots must account for on every flight.
