Moulin Saint-Pierre, Watermill in Taillades, France

Moulin Saint-Pierre is a watermill in Taillades featuring a four-sided structure arranged around a central courtyard. The building still displays the large water wheel that once powered the grinding machinery.

The mill was built in 1859 when the Isle Canal opened, providing the water power needed to run operations. It originally processed madder root into powder before being converted to grind grain.

The courtyard hosts theater and music performances organized by local authorities, transforming this former industrial site into a gathering place for the community. Visitors experience how the space brings people together during these events.

The building is located on Avenue du Moulin and opens to visitors only during special events organized by the town. Check with local authorities beforehand to learn about upcoming programs.

The main gear of the mill, measuring 3.3 meters across and weighing 4 tons, was removed and displayed on a roundabout near the building. This massive metal part hints at the power of the machinery that once drove the mill.
