Funivia Trapani Erice

Funivia Trapani Erice is a cable car system connecting the coastal city of Trapani with the hilltop town of Erice across roughly 2.5 kilometers of Sicilian landscape. Each cabin holds eight passengers and takes about ten minutes to travel uphill.

This modern cable car system opened in 2005 and changed how people reach the ancient hilltop town of Erice, which has roots tracing back to Phoenician times. The link replaced longer driving routes and made visiting the settlement far easier.

The gondola connects two completely different worlds: below lies Trapani's busy harbor life with its boats and sea air, while above sits the quiet hilltop town with its old stone streets. The ride shows how the landscape and pace of life shift as you float slowly over the countryside.

The system runs from early morning through late evening, giving you flexibility in choosing when to travel. Wear comfortable shoes for exploring, and remember that conditions at the hilltop can differ from those in the city below.

The system includes special cabins designed to transport bicycles alongside passengers, expanding mobility options. The lower station features underground storage areas built into the infrastructure for maintenance and system operations.
