Alpujarras Camping

Alpujarras Camping is a mountain campground in Laroles at roughly 1,200 meters (3,937 feet) elevation with 50 pitches spread across 12 hectares of grassland. The facilities include hot showers, laundry services, a swimming pool, and an on-site restaurant.

The campground sits near settlements established in the 8th century when Arab communities developed terraced farming across the Sierra Nevada slopes. This region served as a crucial settlement and trade zone shaped by multiple cultures over many centuries.

The on-site restaurant serves regional dishes rooted in Andalusian culinary traditions shaped by centuries of cultural exchange in the region. The ingredients come from local farmers in the surrounding mountain villages.

The campground operates year-round daily from 11:00 to 20:30 and sits near Puerto de la Ragua, a popular winter sports area. Access is straightforward via mountain roads from Laroles, though some sections involve steep terrain that visitors should expect.

During winter months, the campground serves as a base for dog sledding expeditions, an unusual activity in this southern mountain region. This adventure pairs the mountain setting with a rare winter sport experience.
