Parc du Plan d'Eau du Chêne
The Parc du Plan d'Eau du Chêne is a park centered around a pond in Saint-Julien-de-Concelles, surrounded by green spaces and trees. The site includes walking paths encircling the water, children's play areas, picnic zones, tennis courts, a beach volleyball area, and opportunities for water activities such as paddling, kayaking, and sailing.
The park was created on a former marsh near the Loire, transformed into a recreational area for local visitors. This development allowed residents to enjoy a natural space close to home and converted previously unused land into a functional leisure destination.
The name refers to an ancient oak tree that once stood here and held meaning for local residents. Today the space serves as a gathering spot where neighbors and families come together to spend time outdoors and enjoy quiet moments by the water.
The park is easily accessible on foot or by bicycle, with flat paths suitable for all mobility levels. Note that many water activities such as sailing and pedal boats require advance booking to ensure availability and the best experience.
An arboretum has been established along the main path, displaying various plants that grow in wetland areas with informational signs to support learning. This educational element was developed with help from the agricultural school and transforms the space into more than just a leisure destination.
