Seagull Island
Seagull Island is a small landmass located offshore from Porto Pollo in Sardinia. The site features rock formations, shallow water surrounding it, and straightforward swimming and snorkeling access.
For many years the site served mainly as a sanctuary for seabirds and held little appeal for visitors. Over time, growing tourism in the area brought it into focus as a destination.
Visit during calm weather when the water is clear and you can swim out from shore or take a boat to reach it. Water shoes work well given the rock formations and uneven seabed.
The site takes its name from the large population of seagulls that nest and breed there, particularly during spring months. This makes it a vital refuge for seabirds in the region.
