Strawberry Park Natural Hot Springs
Strawberry Park Natural Hot Springs is a natural site with multiple stone-lined pools along a mountain creek near Steamboat Springs. The pools vary in temperature, with the hottest ones closer to the source and the coolest around 102 degrees Fahrenheit, while all are filled with mineral-rich water.
The area was first used by the Ute people, who believed the mineral waters had healing powers. In the early 1900s, local residents began developing the site as a small resort, adding simple facilities like restrooms and changing areas.
The name comes from wild strawberries that once grew in the area. Today, visitors use the pools as a place to relax together, especially at night when the springs become adults-only and create a different social atmosphere.
The site is snowy from November to May and requires vehicles with winter tires or chains; shuttle services run year-round from Steamboat Springs. Visitors should book reservations in advance, bring swimsuits, towels, water and flashlights, and note that glass, alcohol and smoking are prohibited.
At night after sunset, the property is reserved exclusively for adults and allows optional clothing, creating an unusual social experience. Additionally, overnight lodging includes unconventional options like a train car, covered wagon and railroad caboose that make stays particularly memorable.
