King Street

King Street, also known as Rue de Derrière, is a pedestrian zone in central Saint Helier lined with shops, cafes, and restaurants in varied styles and sizes. The street connects key public spaces and functions as a continuous shopping area with a mix of local and international retailers.

The street's alternate name, Rue de Derrière, comes from its past position behind older buildings in the town. It functions as a social meeting place where locals and visitors naturally gather for shopping and conversation.

The pedestrian zone is easy to reach by public transportation, and parking is available nearby for those arriving by car. Morning or early afternoon visits work best for finding most shops open and experiencing fewer crowds.

The Central Market, housed in a building along the street, preserves the tradition of the original open-air marketplace but in a covered indoor setting. Vendors there sell fresh produce directly from local farms alongside crafts and regional food specialties that reflect the area's agricultural heritage.
