Lac Supérieur, Lake in Bois de Boulogne, Paris, France
Lac Supérieur stretches across the western portion of Bois de Boulogne with several small islands linked by wooden bridges and pathways. The shoreline features multiple access points and rest areas with viewpoints that extend over several kilometers.
The lake came into being during the 1850s transformation of Bois de Boulogne under Napoleon III. This transformation changed a former royal hunting ground into a modern urban park with artificial waterways and landscape features.
The shoreline has hosted rowing clubs since the 19th century, where you can watch athletes training regularly. These clubs shape daily life on the lake and organize competitions and training activities throughout the year.
The lake is accessible on foot along the pathways connecting the islands and shoreline, which are easy to explore. Access is available from several park entrances with nearby parking and public transportation options.
Two islands within the lake contain restaurants, including the Chalet des Îles, reachable only by boat from the southern shore. This feature makes it a special place to dine and explore, away from the busier parts of the park.
