Freedom Square

Freedom Square is a large public square in Bratislava's Old Town with green spaces and several Slovak Technical University buildings surrounding its edges. A prominent fountain in the center marks the space and connects various streets and important institutions throughout the area.

The square developed from medieval vineyards that gradually became an urban center, especially after the Archbishop's Summer Palace was built in the 17th century. This transformation shaped the area for centuries and influenced its current form.

The square's central fountain features a large linden flower sculpture that has become a recognizable symbol of the space. People gather around it throughout the day, making it a focal point where locals and visitors naturally meet.

The square is easy to reach on foot and accessible from several entrances leading from surrounding streets. Visitors will find plenty of open space for walking and exploring, with the university buildings and official structures clearly visible.
