Port de l’Ouchettaz, Harbour and marina in Villeneuve, Switzerland
Port de l'Ouchettaz is a harbour and marina in Villeneuve, in the canton of Vaud, Switzerland, on the shore of Lake Geneva. It has berths on the water as well as spaces on land, a long pier on the east side, and an open area with a playground on the opposite side.
Villeneuve has had a close relationship with Lake Geneva for centuries, and the harbour was from the start a central place for fishermen and travellers. Over time, the site grew from a simple landing point into a developed marina with service facilities.
The Port de l'Ouchettaz is closely tied to everyday life in Villeneuve, where the lake has long shaped how people spend their time. Fishermen, sailors, and families with children all use the quays in their own way, making the harbour a natural meeting point between the town and the water.
The harbour is accessible year-round, though the summer months bring noticeably more activity on the water. The waterfront walkway is easy to explore on foot, and the playground on the side opposite the pier makes it a practical stop for families.
At the end of the waterfront promenade, the Eau-Froide river meets the lake, giving the walk a natural endpoint that feels different from the rest of the harbour area. The name Eau-Froide means "cold water" in French, a reference to the cool mountain streams that feed the river before it reaches the lake.
