Les Grangettes

Les Grangettes is a protected reserve along Lake Geneva's shoreline with extensive marshlands, reed beds, and different aquatic habitats. The area sits at the base of the Arvel mountains and contains a range of plant and animal species adapted to wetland environments.

The area received recognition as a Ramsar site, giving it status as a wetland of international conservation importance. This designation reflects efforts to protect these habitats for the long term.

The place serves as a learning center where visitors and school groups discover how wetlands support diverse life and what conservation means in practice. Walking through the reserve, you can observe how people have learned to protect these environments while still enjoying them.

The reserve has three marked trails with varying difficulty levels, ranging from 30 minutes to four hours of walking time. Group visits with guides are available by arrangement and help you understand the site's features more clearly.

The site serves as a crucial stopping point for migratory birds, where you can watch egrets, kingfishers, and beavers living in their natural surroundings. These wildlife encounters show how alive the landscape is and why it matters globally.
