Liczyrzepa throne
The Liczyrzepa throne is a large rock formation near Karłów that resembles a naturally carved, elevated seat. This rock rises above the surrounding terrain and provides views of the mountainous landscape all around.
The rock formation was created millions of years ago when the region was covered by an ancient sea and later exposed through land uplift and erosion of sandstone layers. Weathering over vast periods of time shaped its distinctive form.
The throne is connected to local legends of Liczyrzepa or Rübezahl, a mythical mountain guardian spirit of the region. Today it serves as a popular photo spot where visitors pause to imagine the old stories of the mountain king.
The throne is located on the route to Szczeliniec Wielki and is accessible on foot from the village of Karłów, though the path is steep and winds through narrow passages. Sturdy footwear and extra time for exploring are advisable.
Some rocks in the surrounding area have local names like Fotel Pradziada (Grandfather's Chair) based on their shapes. These names help visitors distinguish between different formations and keep the region's folklore alive.
