Salto del Agrio, Waterfall in Ñorquín Department, Neuquén Province, Argentina.
The water drops more than 130 feet (40 meters) into a canyon painted in orange, ochre and green by minerals from the nearby volcano.
The canyon was carved over thousands of years by volcanic eruptions and glaciers that left layers of black lava and colorful mineral deposits on the rocks.
Local people see this waterfall as a treasure of their landscape, a place where they come to disconnect from daily life and enjoy the power of nature.
The walk from the parking area takes about half an hour on an easy trail, and the best light for photos arrives in the morning hours.
The river water is naturally acidic because of the volcanic minerals, so very few plants or fish can survive in it, making the environment quite unusual.
