Bogotá, Capital city in central Colombia.

The capital of Colombia sits on a plateau within the Andes mountain range at approximately 2,640 meters above sea level, surrounded by mountainous terrain and green valleys.

Founded in 1538 by Spanish conquistador Gonzalo Jiménez de Quesada, the city developed as a major colonial administrative center during Spanish rule over South America.

The city hosts the Gold Museum, which holds one of the world's largest collections of pre-Columbian gold artifacts, and the annual Ibero-American Theater Festival draws performers internationally.

The TransMilenio bus rapid transit system and integrated public transport network provide connections throughout the city, while El Dorado International Airport serves as the main entry point.

Every Sunday, more than 120 kilometers of city roads close to vehicle traffic for Ciclovía, creating dedicated space for cyclists, runners, and pedestrians to exercise freely.
