Shimao Shenzhen–Hong Kong International Centre, hotel / office in Shenzhen
Shimao Shenzhen–Hong Kong International Centre is a proposed skyscraper in Shenzhen, China, designed to reach a height of 700 meters. The design by Adrian Smith + Gordon Gill Architecture features a slender, tapered form with around 148 floors intended for hotel and office use.
Construction on this project began in 2019 with an expected completion around 2029. The proposal marks Shenzhen's ongoing transformation into a major business hub and follows the trend of ever-taller structures rising across Chinese cities.
Since the skyscraper is still under construction, there are no visitor facilities yet, but the building site is centrally located in Shenzhen and visible from surrounding neighborhoods. Once completed, the mixed-use nature will likely include public areas that allow access to some parts of the building.
The building's facade is designed with a rippling pattern that shifts visually throughout the day depending on light conditions. This surface gives the structure a dynamic appearance and sets it apart from the smoother surfaces of neighboring skyscrapers.
