Trojena, City in Saudi Arabia
Trojena is a mountain development under construction in Neom, northwestern Saudi Arabia, rising from 1,500 to 2,600 meters above sea level. Located about 50 kilometers from the Gulf of Aqaba, the site will include hotels, restaurants, ski slopes, hiking trails, and wellness resorts.
The project was announced in early 2022 by Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman as part of Saudi Arabia's vision to diversify its economy beyond oil. That same year, Trojena was selected to host the Asian Winter Games in 2029, making it one of the few places in the Middle East with winter sports facilities.
The high altitude brings cooler weather than surrounding desert areas, with winter temperatures dropping below freezing and more comfortable summer conditions. Construction is still ongoing, so visitors should check the current status of openings before planning a trip.
The area will house an interactive nature reserve where visitors can learn about the local environment and wildlife. Construction costs reportedly rose by over ten billion dollars, leading to delays and financial discussions.
