Shenzhen Bay Innovation and Technology Centre, skyscraper in Shenzhen, Guangdong, China
The Shenzhen Bay Innovation and Technology Centre is a tower block complex in the Nanshan district of Shenzhen, China, consisting of five structures with varying heights. The tallest tower rises roughly 311 meters, making it one of the most prominent features of the city skyline, while the other towers serve as residential units and support facilities.
Construction of the complex began in 2015 as part of a broader plan to establish Shenzhen as a leading centre for technology and innovation. The towers were completed in 2020, marking the rapid development of the city over recent decades from a small fishing village to a hub for research and business.
The complex carries a name focused on innovation and technology, reflecting how Shenzhen sees itself as a place for new ideas and progress. Visitors often notice busy workers moving quickly through lobbies or sitting in modern offices with laptops, showing the daily rhythm of work in this technology-focused district.
The site is well connected by public transport, and parking is available in underground sections. The glass facades reflect strongly, especially on sunny days, so sunglasses can be useful when walking around the area.
A continuous ribbon-like sky garden connects the two main towers across several floors, offering green space amid the concrete heights. This flowing green zone serves as a resting point and meeting place where workers and visitors can take a break from the busy day.

Everywhere, in deserts, along coasts, and in city centers, new building projects change how cities grow and work. Some build tall towers that change the view, others create whole neighborhoods from scratch. Each project shows different ways of thinking about design, technology, and how people live together. In Saudi Arabia, The Line offers a city without cars that runs through the desert, Trojena gives mountain skiing, and Sindalah builds a new island in the Red Sea. In Dubai, buildings like One Za’abeel, where two towers connect with a hanging bridge, or Dubai Creek Tower that switches the look along the water. In Paris, the Tour Triangle, a glass pyramid in the south, shows how the city considers height and space. These projects are of different sizes and purposes. There are large factories like Oxagon that work on the water, and places to live or work in Jeddah, Zhuhai, and elsewhere. Some are already being built, with the bases and structure going up, others are waiting for permission or funds. Each project aims to meet local needs, whether for more homes, attracting visitors, or trying new ways to build that care for the environment. Together, they show how architects and city planners think about the links between buildings, roads, and daily life around the world.
