Costa dei Trabocchi
Costa dei Trabocchi is a beach in Marina di San Vito along the Adriatic Sea with fine sand and protected swimming areas. The beach runs from a small harbor pier to an old train station and is protected by rocks and breakwaters against erosion.
The train station along the beach dates back to when trains brought people from inland areas to the coast and connected the region to larger centers. Fishing was the main activity of local people for centuries before the area developed into a visitor destination.
The name Costa dei Trabocchi refers to the wooden fishing structures that have shaped this coastline for centuries and show the deep connection of local people to the sea. Today many of these trabocchi have become restaurants where visitors can experience the fishing tradition through fresh seafood.
The beach is easily reached from the harbor area via the Lungomare di Gualdo path and has short walks to the water, making it ideal for families. Restaurants and beach stalls line the sand where you can eat and rent chairs.
At low tide, small pools of water form among the rocks where children can discover little crabs and explore seaweed. These natural pools are a hidden pleasure for young visitors who enjoy watching sea creatures.
