Cvne;Cvne Vino
CVNE is a winery in Haro's station neighborhood that produces wine in historic stone buildings surrounding a sunny courtyard. Inside, underground caves hold large tanks and wooden barrels storing decades-old wines, while modern production facilities like El Pilar operate above, separating different stages of the winemaking process.
The winery was founded in 1879 by two Basque brothers and a local partner, producing wine continuously through difficult periods. Key milestones include launching Monopole white wine in 1915 and modernizing with traditional methods like the El Pilar facility built in 1989.
The name CVNE reflects the founders and their Basque roots. Visitors notice how wine has been woven into daily life in Haro for generations, and how winemaking here represents more than just craft but a core part of the region's identity.
The winery is easy to locate in an accessible part of Haro with wide pathways and soft lighting throughout the buildings. Visitors can walk through both historic structures and modern production areas comfortably, with sunny days offering the best experience for exploring the grounds.
One of the most remarkable wines here is a semi-sweet Corona Gran Reserva from a single vineyard where noble rot develops sugars in the grapes before harvest, limiting production to just over 1,000 bottles yearly. This rarity makes it one of the house's most sought-after and valuable wines.
