Wacoal Kojimachi Building, Commercial building in Kojimachi, Chiyoda, Tokyo, Japan

The Wacoal Kojimachi Building is a nine-story office structure completed in 1984 in Tokyo's Chiyoda ward, stretching horizontally with a distinctive curved roof reaching about 47 meters high. Designed by architect Kisho Kurokawa, it serves as the Tokyo headquarters for Wacoal, a women's clothing company, with office and display spaces throughout its roughly 8,350 square meters of floor area.

The building was constructed in 1984 as the Tokyo headquarters for Wacoal, a company with deep roots in Japan's women's apparel industry. Its design emerged from the 1980s architectural movement that sought to merge contemporary forms with respect for Japanese cultural heritage.

The building represents how a company blends tradition with forward-thinking in its workspace. The round windows referencing historical symbols and the ninth-floor gathering space show how business activity connects to cultural memory and shared purpose.

The building sits just two minutes walk from Hanzomon Station and about six minutes from Kojimachi Station, making it easy to reach by public transport. The neighborhood has nearby cafes and shops, with weekday activity giving way to quieter evenings and weekends.

The roof resembles a flying saucer, giving the structure an unconventional futuristic appearance, while two round windows facing the Imperial Palace draw from historical symbols. These windows are said to reference sewing machine handles or celestial motifs, creating an unexpected link between everyday craft and cosmic imagination.
