Whistler Olympic Park, Outdoor sports park in Callaghan Valley, Whistler, Canada
Whistler Olympic Park is a large outdoor area in Callaghan Valley, about 30 minutes north of Squamish, which hosted ski jumping and cross-country skiing events during the 2010 Winter Olympics. The park features groomed trails for winter sports, marked paths for snowshoeing, summer hiking routes, and mountain biking, all set within a mountain landscape.
The park was developed as a venue for cross-country skiing and ski jumping events during the 2010 Winter Olympics and received significant First Nations art installations during that time. After the Games, the facility was repurposed for public use and now offers year-round outdoor activities for visitors.
The park displays artwork created by First Nations, Inuit, and Métis artists that were shown during the 2010 Olympic Games. Seven of these pieces remain on display today, reflecting the cultural connections to the land and its original inhabitants.
The park opens daily from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Tuesday through Sunday, with extended hours until 9:00 p.m. on Mondays and Wednesdays, including night skiing from 3:00 p.m. during winter months. Equipment rentals are available on-site for skis, snowshoes, and other gear, along with a café serving meals made from local ingredients.
Visitors can try biathlon, an Olympic sport that combines cross-country skiing with shooting, under guidance from trained staff at actual Olympic ranges. The experience lasts about 30 to 40 minutes and allows people age 8 and older to train as Olympic athletes do.
