Serre-Chevalier giant zip line, zip-line in Saint-Chaffrey, France
The Tyrolienne géante de Serre-Chevalier is a long zip-line starting at an altitude of about 2400 meters (7900 feet) and stretching over roughly 1100 meters (3600 feet). The route connects two high points in the mountains and accommodates both solo riders and pairs with standard safety gear.
Serre-Chevalier has welcomed mountain lovers since the 1930s. In the 1940s, the first ski lifts started to turn the area into a winter destination. The giant zipline is a newer addition, adding more activities and giving visitors a different view of the peaks and valleys nearby.
The name reflects the mountain zipline tradition of the Alps. On the platform, you see visitors share their nervousness and joy, creating a feeling of friendship among mountain adventurers.
First, you take a cable car or chairlift up to the starting point, which takes about 30 minutes. For safety reasons, the minimum weight is 25 kg for individuals and 50 kg for couples. The maximum weight is around 120 kg. People with a pacemaker cannot take part in this activity.
After the ride, a photo station captures your landing moment, showing your face filled with adrenaline as you arrive. You can purchase the photo with a credit card afterward, turning the moment into a lasting memory of your mountain adventure.
