Área Recreativa el Infierno is a picnic site in the small village of Collera, within the municipality of Ribadesella in Asturias, Spain. The site has tables, benches, and basic barbecue facilities set on open ground near the coastal cliffs.
The area around Ribadesella has been settled since early times, and this part of the Asturian coast played a role in the early stages of the Reconquista, the Christian campaign to reclaim the Iberian Peninsula. The picnic site itself was set up in more recent times to give locals and visitors a simple outdoor space near the cliffs.
The name of this picnic spot comes from the nearby cliffs called the Acantilados del Infierno, which drop sharply into the sea. Visitors often use it as a starting point for short walks along the cliff edge before stopping to eat.
To get there by car, take the AS-263 toward Llanes, turn left just after the local football ground, cross the railway tracks, and follow the path to the end. Parking is available close to the site.
Despite the name suggesting something dangerous, the cliff paths here are well marked and safe to walk. The site also sits close to the Sella river, which hosts one of Spain's oldest canoe racing events each year.
