The Armorine House, Confectionery store in Quiberon, Brittany, France
La Maison d'Armorine is a confectionery store in Quiberon, on the coast of Brittany, specializing in handmade Breton sweets. The shelves are filled with colorful boxes and jars of caramel, candies, and chocolates, and the shop sits right along the seafront on Boulevard Chanard.
La Maison d'Armorine was founded in 1946 by Raymond and Yvonne Audebert. Four generations of confectioners have since carried on the trade, staying close to old regional recipes.
The Niniches, small lollipop-style candies, are a signature product of the shop and come in flavors like caramel or fruit. Visitors can buy them individually or in bags, making them a popular treat to take home.
The shop is easy to spot from the seafront and works well as a stop during a walk along the shore. It gets busy in summer, so visiting earlier in the day helps avoid the longest lines.
A small glass-fronted area inside the shop lets visitors watch the confectioners at work as they make caramel and sweets by hand. This kind of open workshop is rare in a small street shop and makes the visit more than just a purchase.
