Saint-Pierre Catholic Church ⛪, Catholic church in Boulogne-sur-Mer, France
Saint-Pierre Catholic Church is a parish church in Boulogne-sur-Mer, built in reinforced concrete with a stone facing in the early 1960s. Its square tower rises four levels, with open screens on each side, and a cross at the top.
The original Saint-Pierre church was destroyed in 1944 and had to be entirely rebuilt. The first stone of the new building was laid in April 1960, and the church was blessed and opened in June 1961.
The church stands on the Place Saint-Pierre in Boulogne-sur-Mer and is easy to reach on foot from the town center. A large concrete porch marks the main entrance and makes the building easy to spot.
The tower is left in raw concrete without any facing, which sets it apart visually from the stone-covered body of the church. This contrast between two materials on the same building is a rare example of postwar church construction in the region.
