Nausicaa Gardens, Park in Boulogne-sur-Mer, France
The Jardins de Nausicaa is a public park in the center of Boulogne-sur-Mer, in northern France. It has flat paths, benches, a children's playground, and beds of local flowers, shrubs, and trees.
Gardens have existed on this site for several centuries and were gradually reworked over time to better serve families and nature lovers. The current layout is the result of that slow transformation, which opened the space to the general public.
The Jardins de Nausicaa take their name from a figure in Greek mythology, a reference that fits naturally in a coastal town with such strong ties to the sea. Panels inside the park share information about local plants, and some areas are designed so that children can touch and explore natural elements directly.
The park is within walking distance of the center of Boulogne-sur-Mer and is accessible to everyone, since the paths are flat and wide enough for strollers and wheelchairs. Weekday mornings tend to be quieter if you prefer a more relaxed visit.
From certain spots in the park, you can see the sea in the distance, which is unusual for a town park set back from the waterfront. That glimpse of water gives the walk a slightly different feel compared to an ordinary city park.
