Girandella Beach for Adults, Rabac, Adults-only beach in Rabac, Croatia
Plage Girandella pour adultes is an adults-only beach in Rabac, a small coastal town on the eastern shore of Istria, Croatia. The shore is made up of small pebbles and flat rocks that lead directly into the sea, with the water staying clear enough to see the bottom in the shallows.
Rabac grew from a small fishing port in the 19th century into one of the earliest tourist destinations in Istria. The coastline around Girandella was gradually developed for bathing and equipped with facilities over the course of the 20th century.
The name Girandella refers to a small rocky point nearby that gives the beach its character. Jumping from the flat rocks into the water is a common pastime here, and visitors of all ages take part in it throughout the day.
The beach fills up fast in the height of summer, so arriving early in the morning or on a weekday makes a real difference. Water shoes are worth bringing, since the pebble and rock surface can make walking along the edge uncomfortable for bare feet.
Although the beach is clearly marked as an adults-only area, it also offers rental options for paddleboards and small boats right on the spot. Having cash on hand is a good idea, as not all rental stands accept card payments.
