The Inasa Observatory Tower is a circular glass tower at the summit of Mount Inasa in Nagasaki, Japan. Its observation deck offers a 360-degree view over the city, the port, and on clear days, distant islands such as the Goto Islands.
Mount Inasa has served as a lookout over Nagasaki for many decades, and the tower was added over time to give visitors a higher vantage point without the need to climb. The ropeway connecting the base of the mountain to the summit was built and later closed temporarily for maintenance, during which a bus service replaced it.
Many visitors come in the evening to watch the city lights reflected on the harbor water, and it is common to see couples or family groups enjoying the view together. The site is known locally by the nickname 'million-dollar night view,' a phrase that reflects how residents talk about it.
The tower is accessible by elevator and the deck is flat, making it easy to move around for all visitors, including wheelchair users. Arriving just before sunset lets you see the view shift from daylight to the lit city below, which is the most popular time to visit.
The tower is officially listed as a proposal spot, making it one of the few observation points in Japan formally associated with that tradition. On very clear days, Mount Unzen is visible on the horizon from the deck.
