Gyeongpo Lake, Artificial lake in Gangwon Province, South Korea

Gyeongpo Lake is an artificial lake set within Gyeongpo Park in South Korea's Gangwon Province. A paved path circles the entire water body, divided into separate lanes for pedestrians and cyclists, with sculptures, flower beds, and raised boardwalks over nearby marshes placed along the way.

Gyeongpo Lake was created as part of the development of Gyeongpo Park, which was established to give people an outdoor space near the Gangwon coast. Over time, sculptures and facilities were added around it, but the overall feel of the place stayed close to its original, natural character.

People in Gangneung treat the lake and its surrounding park as part of everyday life. Joggers, cyclists, and families share the loop path, while older visitors often sit on benches and watch the water.

The loop path around the lake is open year-round and works well for a gentle walk or a bike ride. Bikes can be rented near the park, and comfortable shoes are a good idea if you plan to explore the boardwalk sections over the marshes.

Most people who walk the loop tend to go clockwise, giving the path a shared, unhurried flow that feels almost choreographed. The sculptures placed along the route do not follow a single theme, so each stretch of the walk brings a different kind of object into view.
