Gangneung

The city extends across 1,040 square kilometers between the Taebaek Mountains and the East Sea, featuring pine forests and coastal landscapes across thirteen neighborhoods.

The region evolved from ancient Yemaek settlements through Wiman Joseon control in 129 BC to its current status as a municipal city established in 1955.
