Jumunjin Beach

Jumunjin Beach is a public beach with about one kilometer of white sand stretching along the East Sea. The site includes changing facilities, showers, and equipment rental stations for visitors.

The beach developed next to a traditional fishing port and has supported maritime activities since the early 20th century. The link to fishing remains central to local life today.

Fishermen land their daily catch right at the shore, and local markets sell fresh seafood where you can see how regional dishes are prepared.

The water here is shallow and good for swimming, which is why families with children prefer this beach over others in the region. Regular buses connect the beach to Gangneung city throughout the day.

The beach stands out because its waters are notably shallower than other eastern beaches in the country. This feature makes it a safer place for young children and less experienced swimmers.
