Odaesan National Park, National park in Pyeongchang-gun, South Korea

Odaesan National Park is a protected natural area in Pyeongchang-gun, Gangwon province, South Korea, centered on a forested mountain with several peaks, rocky trails, and clear mountain streams. The park also contains historic temple complexes set within the forest, making it a mix of natural and built heritage.

The mountain takes its name from a Buddhist monk of the Silla Dynasty, and the area has been a center of Buddhist learning and practice since that era. The site was designated a protected scenic area in the early 1970s and soon after became a national park.

Woljeongsa Temple, inside the park, is one of the main monasteries of the Jogye Order and has been a place of Buddhist practice for over a thousand years. Visitors can walk quietly through its courtyard, watch incense burn, and take in the wooden buildings set among tall trees.

The park has trails suited to different levels, from easy walks along streams to steeper climbs toward the summits. It is reachable by bus from nearby towns, and parking is available close to the main entrances.

The Sangwon Temple within the park is said to house the oldest bronze bell in Korea, still intact after many centuries. A stone marker near the stream reportedly marks the spot where King Sejo of the Joseon Dynasty once bathed, adding a royal footnote to the mountain's long story.
