Hanbit Tower is a 93-meter observation tower in Sinseong-dong, Daejeon, South Korea, built next to the Expo Science Park. The top floor offers an open view over the park and a large part of the city beyond it.
The tower was built for the 1993 Daejeon Expo, a world fair that drew visitors from across the globe. Its name, Hanbit, means "Great Light" in Korean, a reference to the spirit of progress the event was meant to represent.
Inside, the ground floor holds an exhibition room with photos and videos about Daejeon, and the viewing platform at the top is the main draw for most visitors. The tower is closed on Mondays and on certain public holidays, so it is worth checking before you go.
Although the tower was built as an Expo landmark, it has quietly become one of the most popular spots in Daejeon for marriage proposals.
