Expo Science Park, Science park in Yuseong District, South Korea.
Expo Science Park is a public park in the Yuseong District of Daejeon, South Korea, with exhibition buildings, educational zones covering physics, biology, and environmental topics, and conference facilities that date from the 1993 world exposition. The Hanbit Tower rises on the grounds and can be seen from a distance.
The site was built in 1993 to host an international exposition with Daejeon as its base, and its main structures were kept after the event ended. The grounds were then opened to the public as a lasting exhibition and leisure space.
Several pavilions and installations from the 1993 world exposition remain on the grounds and are now used as spaces for science exhibits. The Hanbit Tower is the most visible structure on the site and serves as a landmark for the whole area.
The grounds are easy to walk around, with clear paths connecting the different zones. Comfortable shoes are recommended since the site covers a large area and a full visit takes several hours.
The headquarters of the Institute for Basic Science, one of South Korea's leading research centers, sits within the park grounds. Since 2017, a film studio has also been producing content on site, meaning parts of the park may occasionally serve as a filming location.
